Son of ruling party majoritarian candidate arrested for stabbing two opposition activists

Son of the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party’s majoritarian candidate Mikheil Dautashvili has been arrested for stabbing two opposition activists during an opposition election event in Dmanisi of eastern Georgia yesterday. 

 

The Georgian Interior Ministry reported earlier today that detained David Dautashvili verbally and physically attacked the opposition activists and inflicted them facial injuries. 

 

If found guilty Dautasvili faces 3-6 years in prison. 

 

Mikheil Dautashvili claims that he himself brought his son to the police. 

 

Yesterday he accused the opposition of being provocative which could spark the tension.
