Georgian justice minister congratulates female convicts on winning world chess championship

Georgian Justice Minister Rati Bregadze has congratulated Georgian female convicts on recent winning of the world chess championship among convicts with Georgian chess legend, five-time world champion, Nona Gaprindashvili. 

 

The winners were awarded earlier today at an event at the Sheraton Metechi Palace.

 

" To promote a healthy life, all convicts will have maximal support," Bregadze promised.

 

The ceremony was organized by the Georgian Chess Federation with the support of the Ministry of Justice and was attended by the convicts participating in the tournament.

 

Gaprindashvili personally congratulated the female convicts on their victory and awarded them medals and prizes.

 

The championship was held online.

 

Teams from four countries participated in the final competition: Georgia, Russia, Ukraine and Trinidad and Tobago. 

 

In the final fight, the female convicts defeated the Russian team.
