Georgian defence minister reaffirms support for Ukraine in Brussels

Georgian Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze has reaffirmed the country’s support for Ukraine during the NATO Defence Ministerial in Brussels.

He stated that the alliance and partner states’ position over the future membership of Georgia and Ukraine into NATO remains unchanged.

"I had a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. I also  met with our colleagues from the United States, Poland and Slovenia. Of course, their position is unchanged and very firm  that Georgia will become a member of NATO. Of course, our main task is territorial integrity and achieving the goal is unlikely without the membership of NATO,” Burchuladze said.

Russia demanded NATO to never add Georgia and Ukraine as new members. NATO says that the open door policy will not be reviewed.
