Biden: if Russia uses chemical weapon in Ukraine, we’ll respond

US President Joe Biden says that if Russia decides to use chemical weapons during its invasion of Ukraine, the West will respond to the move.

"We would respond, we would respond if he uses it. The nature of the response would depend on the nature of the use," Biden said at a news conference in Brussels on Thursday.

One month has passed since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says that if Russia had known about the consequences of the invasion, it may not have taken the step.

"In this one month, we have restrained all major Russian attacks. The world has imposed destructive sanctions. We will continue to work and reach agreements on new ones," Zelensky said.

Russia says that the promise for support to Ukraine expressed by NATO at yesterday’s summit ‘confirms that the alliance is interested in the continuation of hostilities.’
