Zelenskyy’s adviser: Ukraine expects ‘good news’ regarding evacuations from Mariupol

Oleksiy Arestovych, the adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, said on Saturday that Ukraine was expecting ‘good news’ regarding evacuations of people from the country’s besieged city of Mariupol.

Arestovych noted the delegation of Ukraine had reached an agreement with Russia to provide evacuations during the peace talks between the two countries held in Istanbul.

“I think that today or maybe tomorrow we will hear good news regarding the evacuation of the inhabitants of Mariupol,” Arestovych told Ukrainian television.

Mariupol has been Russia’s main target in Ukraine’s southeastern region during the war, with tens of thousands of people remaining trapped in the city with food and water shortages, Reuters reported.
