GD MP Mdinaradze: we categorically demand Ukraine to present evidence over smuggling allegations

The ruling Georgian Dream  (GD) party MP Mamuka Mdinaradze has stated that Ukraine must present evidence, if the country has such, for its recent “disgusting allegations” that Tbilisi is aiding Russia to smuggle in various goods to circumvent international sanctions.

Mdinaradze said today “it is clear” that the members of the United National Movement (UNM) opposition party, who currently took posts in the Ukrainian government, stood behind the “disinformation.”

He also said that today’s statement of the Ukrainian FM, Tbilisi to present evidence that it was not aiding Russia, was illogical.

"We categorically demand that the relevant agencies of Ukraine present any evidence for disgusting accusations against Georgia or publicly deny their absurd statements against a friend and partner country ,” Mdinaradze said.

He stated that “as part of the hybrid war against Georgia,” this was another, “absolutely offensive” accusation towards the Georgian government and the people.

“No one in Georgia did not even thought of making such an unacceptable move.It is clear that behind such statements stand certain individuals from the war party (referring to the UNM), who are in the opposition in Georgia and are holding state posts in Ukraine, including in intelligence services,” Mdinaradze said.

The intelligence division of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said earlier this week that Georgian Dream authorities allowed Russians to smuggle in various goods with the use of the country’s territory to circumvent sanctions.

Tbilisi has strongly dismissed the allegations and demanded Kyiv to present evidence.
