Georgian hockey team makes history

The Georgian hockey team has achieved historic success in the competition organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF)  in which Georgian hockey players have won three out of four games in Group B of the Second Division of the World Cup and took the second place.

Georgia defeated the teams of Belgium (4: 3), Bulgaria (10: 3) and Mexico (5: 0) and lost to the host of the championship - Iceland (2: 5). 

It was Iceland that took first place and won a Group A trip.


In addition to the silver medals of the championship, two members of the Georgian national team also received individual awards - Nikita Bukia and Ivan Karelin became the top scorers of the championship.
