Six-years since brutal murder of Giga Otkhozoria by occupation forces

Six years have passed since the brutal muder of Georgian citizen Giga Otkhozoria by a Russian-controlled so-called border guard near the country’s occupied Abkhazia region.

The convict firing six shots at Otkhozoria on the Tbilisi-controlled territory, is still walking free.

Georgian PM Irakli Garibashvili vowed on Thursday that the offender will be held accountable.

“We are using all possible legal and diplomatic tools to hold the perpetrators accountable with full force of law,” Garibashvili said."We will never tolerate a criminal occupation that divides Georgian citizens and we will do everything we can to end it peacefully," he added.

Otkhozoria was trying to transport food into the breakaway Abkhazia for a funeral when so-called border guards demanded him pay for entry which reportedly caused a dispute.

Otkhozoria was on Tbilisi -controlled territory when he was shot six times by so-called border-guard, Rashid Kanjiogli.

The offender was sentenced to 14-years in prison by a local Zugdidi court. However, he has not been imprisoned so far.
