The European Weightlifting Federation announced on Monday that its poll for the nomination of the 2021 Best Weightlifter of the Year  for male athlete was closed and the winner was Georgian Lasha Talakhadze, “ known as the world’s strongest man.”  

“World and Olympic champion in 2021 and record holder in snatch, clean and jerk and total in the +109 category, with 4.750 votes.” said the federation.  

The awarding ceremony will take place during the Opening ceremony of the 100th Edition of European Senior Championships on 27th of May

Talakhadze, 28,  is a two-time Olympic Champion, five-time World Champion, and five-time European Champion.
