Court convicts suspects for brutal murder of Irish tourist in Gori, Georgia

The Gori District Court sentenced three suspects to 20 and 21 years in prison on Monday for brutal murder of Irish tourist Tom Kennedy in Gori last year. 

 

One more suspect is still awaiting his sentence as he is a minor. 

 

The fifth participant in the case was sentenced to six years in prison for not reporting a crime. 

 

Along with murder committed with particular cruelty, the four were alco charged with group robbery. 

 

The Prosecutor’s Office said that on October 7, 2021, in Georgia's central city of  Gori, four individuals, including a minor, attacked an Irish citizen, forcibly seizing his mobile phone, bank plastic card and cash.

 

After that, the convicts inflicted multiple injuries on the victim in order to cover up the crime, and then drowned him in the Mtkvari River.

 

Law enforcement officers arrested all five individuals involved in the crime back  on October 10,  2021.
