PM Garibashvili holds farewell meeting with EU Ambassador Hartzell

Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia held a farewell meeting with Carl Hartzell, European Union (EU) Delegation Head to Georgia on Friday. 

Garibashvili and Hartzell discussed the cooperation between the EU and Georgia and the recent decision of the European Council to grant Georgia European perspective. 

“The decision on granting European Perspective to the country was truly historic and by doing so Council of Europe as well as leaders of EU member states confirmed that the future of Georgia rests within the EU,” the Government of Georgia press office cited Garibashvili as saying. 


Garibshvili expressed gratitude to Hartzell for his “unwavering support of the sovereignty, territorial integrity and European path of Georgia.” 


Hartzell assumed the position in September 2018. 


Pawel Herczynski, current  Director for Security Policy at the European Union’s External Action Service, is expected to replace Hartzell in the role.
