A manufacturing plant of Turkish combat drones Bayraktar will be “immediately demilitarised” if  it opens in Ukraine, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday.

"The opening of such a plant will only prolong the sufferings of Ukrainians but will in no way help to avoid the main objective of the special military operation," Peskov claimed at a scheduled media briefing.

Ukrainian Ambassador to Turkey Vasily Bondar said earlier this week that Turkish company Baykar Makina had purchased a land plot in Ukraine in a bid to build there a plant for the production of Bayraktar combat drones. 

The Ukrainian Government passed a bill on the ratification of an agreement with Turkey earlier this month on cooperation in the field of high technologies, the aviation and space sectors, allowing Turkish companies to enter the country through simplified procedures.
