Nika Melia, the head of the United National Movement opposition party, on Monday said that police officers were “massively” leaving jobs in the face of an ”unbearing situation in the country” created by the current state authorities. 

The opposition leader said that police officers “were forced” to resign “due to the demands to suppress the ruling party opponents, poor economical situation, low salaries and disrespect”. 

“Many of the police officers even do not wait for the approval of their resignation requests and leave for abroad”, Melia said. 

Melia once again accused the Georgian Dream government of adhering to the “pro-Russian policies” and “doing its utmost to please Russian visitors”on the background of Russia’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine. 

He claimed that the situation would be improved since “a new political force takes office”. 

The ruling party members responded that the UNM “was interested in the coup”, adding that “any attempts to overthrow the Government will be doomed to failure”.
