Zelensky calls on EU to ban Russian channels

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday called on the European Union to impose a ban on both Russian state TV channels and propagandists working in these media outlets.

"Not a single Russian propagandist should remain on the territory of the European Union. Not a single Russian state TV channel should be allowed to continue working on the territory of the European Union," said the President of Ukraine during an online speech at the Forum 2000 event in Prague.

Back in March, the United Kingdom's regulatory agency revoked the British broadcasting license of the Russian government-owned TV channel RT.

Russia invaded Ukraine in February.

Hostilities have been in progress since then.

The EU said on Wednesday that it had plans to reject simplified visa procedures for Russian nationals.
