MEP Cramon’s attitude towards Georgia “hostile” - ruling party chair

The ruling Georgian Dream party head, Irakli Kobakhidze, slammed MEP Viola von Cramon on Tuesday over her comments on the founder of the GD Bidzina Ivanishvili, saying that Cramon’s “unfounded” allegations towards Ivanishvili and the current Georgian authorities were “hostile to the country’s interests”.

Commenting on the recent Tbilisi conference Glory to Ukraine, Kobakhidze slammed the MEP for connecting Ivanishvili’s lawsuit against a Swiss Bank and the June resolution of the European Parliament, which called for sanctions against Ivanishvili for his “running the country from the backstage” and “connections with the Kremlin.”

"Cramon said yesterday that the EP resolution has yielded results, and that the result is sanctions against Bidzina Ivanishvili and so on. What can you call such a MEP? What she says, the unfounded allegations [over running the country from the backstage] is harmful to Georgian interests. Naturally, we will react accordingly” Kobakhidze said.

In his comments on the conference, Kobakhidze said that the Government representatives did not attend it as the event “serves the interests and encourages the radical goals” of the United National Movement opposition party.
