US’ Blinken pays sudden visit to Kyiv

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken made a sudden visit to war-torn Ukraine on Thursday. 

It is Blinken's third visit to the capital of Ukraine since the start of the war back in February of this year. 

 

Blinken is expected to announce a new $2 billion aid package with the majority of funds intended for Ukraine, while the remaining money for other states, including Georgia, which also face Russian aggression. 

 

Russia invaded Georgia in 2008 with 20 percent of the country;s territory still occupied, while it invaded Ukraine in 2014 and then launched a full-scale aggression on February 24 which still continues.
