Inflow and outflow from army “normal” - defence minister

Georgian Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze said on Thursday that both recruitment and leaving the army by its personnel was “a natural process”, responding to recent allegations by the opposition that service members were “massively” leaving the country due to poor conditions.

Dismissing the “discrediting allegations” the minister stressed the conditions of servicemembers was “best than ever”

"Such comfortable conditions, such social conditions have never existed in the army before. We are not satisfied and we are not done with this, whatever the result we have achieved. This will be a continuous process," said the minister.

"We all think that the number of troops is secret information, it is a state secret, it is not my secret”, said the minister.

According to Juansher Burchuladze, the soldiers have the best nutritional conditions. "We have a separate food quality department, which is headed by highly qualified employees. This kind of food was never served in our army. This is fresh meat, this is the dairy product that is included in such supermarket chains, which is a luxury item," said the minister.
