Int’l visits restored by 53.8% compared to pre-pandemic period - tourism administration

The National Tourism Administration of Georgia said on Thursday that in the nine months of 2022, compared to the same period of 2019, the recovery rate of international visits is 53.8%.

The agency stated that in September 2022, 636,235 international travelers visited Georgia and compared to the same period of 2019, the number of visits increased by 69.4%.

In September 2022, out of 636,235 international travelers, 452,155 were tourist visits. 

Compared to the same period of 2019, 83.8% of international tourist visits have been restored, said the agency. 

"In the period of January-September 2022, 3,892,605 international travelers visited the country, the increase compared to the same period of 2021 is +199.1%. Compared to the data of  nine months of 2019, the recovery rate of international travelers' visits is 53.8%”, said the agency. 

It said that in nine months of 2022, 2,704,133 international tourist visits took place in Georgia, compared to the period of January-September 2021, the increase was +147.5%. Compared to the same period of 2019, the rate of recovery of international tourist visits was 67.8%.

The share of people in the figures who had come from Ukraine and Russia on the backdrop of Russia's war in Ukraine, was not outioned.
