US Congressman Kinzinger slams Georgian PM over volunteers fighting in Ukraine

US Congressman Adam Kinzinger on Tuesday slammed the Georgian prime minister Irakli Garibashvili for his recent comments that the United National Movement “radical opposition” is taking volunteers to Ukraine to fight.

In contrast to the Georgian top official's words that the fighters had been “deceived” by the party that is trying to “drag” Georgia in the war, the US lawmaker stressed the volunteers “are heroes”.

He also said by using such wording the PM “shows a little respect” to his people.

Thirty-three Georgian volunteers have been killed in Ukraine since the outbreak of hostilities on February 24.

Sending his condolences over the death of five Georgian volunteers on December 5, Garibashvili accused the UNM opposition of “immoral populism” and using of volunteers for its “narrow, political interests”.
