EU Commission report gives “more importance” to work on candidacy conditions - president

Georgian president Salome Zourabichvili on Friday said the recently released “positive report” of the European Commision on Georgia’s alignment with EU laws had given “more importance” to the country’s efforts to meet the 12 conditions set by the bloc in June 2022 to grant its membership candidate status to Georgia later this year.

The reports on Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova were released on Thursday, evaluating the country’s alignment of EU laws in 33 chapters following Georgia’s application for membership on March 3, 2022, shortly after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The report also offered guidance on the work ahead under the different acquis chapters.
