Students won’t be called for compulsory military service - new defence code

Georgia’s new defence code, that has been submitted to the parliament for approval,  remains the previous stance unchanged and says students will not be called for compulsory military service.

In its previous comments, the body said students would be called and be offered a “flexible system” along with their studies.

Now the body changed the approach and said if students had the desire to undergo the service, they would be offered several options.
