European Commission accepts ban on imports of sunflower oil from Ukraine

The European Commission has agreed to ban the imports of sunflower oil from Ukraine, although the transit of this product will be allowed, the Polish Minister of Agriculture Robert Telus said on Wednesday.

He claimed his government would not stop the import blockade until its conditions are met.

"We are not going to abandon the actions we have taken at this moment unless we get the appropriate instruments that ensure the security of Polish farmers over trade, in terms of the  flow of products from Ukraine to Poland," the official said after talks with the European Commission in Luxembourg.

Before that, the European Commission agreed to ban imports of wheat, corn and sunflower from the war-torn country.

"We are still negotiating for other products like flour, honey, sugar, soft fruits [frozen], eggs, meat [especially poultry], milk and dairy products, as well as apple juice and apple concentrate," said the Polish minister.
