Javier Colomina, the NATO Secretary General's Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia, on Thursday tweeted he had discussed the needs to “redouble efforts on reforms and democratic standards”, as well as “continued support” for Ukraine amid its conflict with Russia in meetings with Georgian  officials in Tbilisi. 

The official said the discussions with President Salome Zourabichvili, Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili, Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili and Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze had also reviewed prospects for the forthcoming NATO Vilnius Summit in July, before he pledged the alliance’s “commitment” to Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations. 

His meetings in Tbilisi also touched upon the Georgian government's efforts to meet the 12-point conditions outlined by the European Union last year for granting its membership candidate status to Tbilisi later this year.

Colomina arrived in Tbilisi on Wednesday, after holding meetings with Armenian top officials in Yerevan.
