Russia loses war with Ukraine, but wins hybrid war with Georgia, “occupies gov’t” - ex-PM Gakharia

Russia is losing its ongoing conflict with Ukraine, but the Kremlin is winning its hybrid war with Georgia and along with the occupation of Georgian territories, it occupies the country’s current government, Giorgi Gakharia, the former prime minister and the founder of the opposition For Georgia party said on Monday, on the second anniversary of his party.

In his social media post, the former official claimed “today, it is already clear that everything for which I resigned and founded the party, unfortunately, was justified”.

“I then made my choice for Georgia, while [the founder of the Georgian Dream Bidzina] Ivanishvili and the then bosses of the ruling party - for their own power and personal well-being”, Gakharia said.

Describing the Georgian Dream government as an “openly anti-Western, anti-democratic force”, Gakharia said the current authorities were engaged in “devaluing such values as freedom and independence, and trying to manipulate even the most sacred issue for the country - its territorial integrity”.

“Of course, this is temporary, Russia will never win in Georgia again. Two years ago we said that ‘we will unite for Georgia, not against anyone’, today, we say that we stand united for Georgia and against all those who threaten the European, free, united future of our country”, he said, adding “the battle started for a united, democratic, European, Georgian state continues and we will win in this battle”.

Gakharia resigned as the country’s PM and left the Georgian Dream party in February 2021, following his controversies with the ruling power.
