Georgian interior minister Vakhtang Gomelauri on Wednesday hailed “many years of support and worthy cooperation” by the country’s international partners in his Police Day messages. 

Addressing a special ceremony in Tbilisi also attended by the diplomatic corps, the official stressed it would be difficult for his office to implement a number of important projects without their support, before pledging efforts to meet the obligations assumed by the country for its Euro-Atlantic integration. 

In his speech, the minister also praised the prime minister Irakli Garibashvili “continuous support” for police professionals, before highlighting the increase of the law enforcement wages by 30 percent between 2022-2023 and the launch of the construction of a settlement for them in Tbilisi, where 1,000 law enforcement officers would receive flats at symbolic price in two years.
