Russian-controlled occupation forces abduct Georgian citizen

The Russian-controlled occupation forces have abducted a Georgian citizen from the country’s central village of Akhmaji, near the de facto Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) region, the Georgian State Security Service confirmed on Wednesday. 

 

The agency announced the activation of the hot line by the EU Monitoring Mission, the only foreign observing mission in the country, and stressed the International partners and co-chairs of Geneva International Discussions had been “immediately informed” about the incident.

 

"All available mechanisms have been activated to ensure the release of the illegally detained Georgian citizen as soon as possible”, the GSSS said. 

 

It added responsibility for all destructive actions committed on the occupied territories of Georgia, as well as along the occupation line, “rests with the occupying power”.
