Russian-Chinese ties “fundamental” for world stability - Putin

Russian-Chinese relations are a fundamental factor of stability in the world. Russia and China have always tried to find a compromise, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an interview with China Media Corporation on the weekend.

Putin claimed Moscow and China had different ratios of exports and imports, and the countries were improving their trade balance year on year.

"This is how we go in almost all directions. I am no longer talking about the role that Russian-Chinese relations play in world stability. This is a fundamental factor - Russia-China relations. All this together gives us reason to believe that we were moving in the absolutely right direction and in the interests of both the Chinese and Russian people," Putin added.

He noted the cooperation between Moscow and Beijing was not dictated by the current political situation in the world, and it had been “cautiously and quietly formed” over the past two decades.

“This is how we resolved the issues of border demarcation, which had not been resolved for 40 years”, the Russian President said.

Putin will attend the Belt and Road Forum scheduled for October 17-18 in Beijing and meet with President Xi Jinping.
