A 15-year-old girl has been arrested on charges of premeditated murder following the death of a 74-year-old man in the Khashuri municipality of Shida Kartli in central Georgia.
The incident occurred late on Wednesday near the glass factory settlement located between Khashuri and Surami. The victim, who worked as a taxi driver, was found with fatal stab wounds.
According to reports, several theories have been suggested over the motive behind the murder. One version suggested an attempted assault on a young girl, although the victim’s relatives strongly denied any involvement in such an incident. Another possible motive under consideration was robbery.
The suspect, identified as G.Q., was reportedly vacationing in Surami at the time of the incident. Law enforcement officers from the Shida Kartli Police Department quickly apprehended the minor following the crime and recovered the weapon, a knife, believed to have been used in the attack.
The crime is being investigated under Article 108 of the Criminal Code, which carries a sentence of 10 to 15 years in prison.
