Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced that Georgia’s Paralympic athletes will receive the same rewards as their Olympic counterparts.
The PM made the statement at a welcoming ceremony on Thursday, saying all athletes who participated in the Paralympic Games, including those who did not win medals, will be awarded a 50,000 GEL bonus.
“Before the Paralympic Games, we made the announcement that all Paralympic medalists would receive the same prizes as Olympians, and these awards will be distributed promptly. I also want to emphasize that every Paralympic athlete who did not win a medal will still be recognized with a 50,000 GEL reward. It is our duty to honor your achievements,” he said.
Kobakhidze further noted that all medalists have been nominated for the highest state honors.
“The decision to present these orders has been made, and tomorrow you will receive the highest honors. I congratulate you in advance,” the PM addressed the sportsmen.
Kobakhidze also thanked the Paralympic Committee and the Ministry of Culture and Sports, particularly Minister Tea Tsulukiani, for their contributions.
“Special thanks also go to the coaches, doctors, technical staff, and every person involved in our Paralympic team’s success,” he added.
Kobakhidze expressed gratitude to the Paralympians, saying, “Your victory brought pride and joy to every Georgian. Thank you for making us feel that pride!”
