Ivanishvili: Territorial integrity can be restored through peace, reconciliation, and forgiveness

Bidzina Ivanishvili, founder and honorary chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party, emphasized that achieving national unity is only possible through reconciliation and mutual forgiveness. Speaking at a regional campaign event in Telavi, Kakheti region, Ivanishvili said the October 26 elections will be more than a political contest, calling it a fight for peace, sovereignty, and the preservation of Georgia’s traditions and values.

“This is a fight to fulfill our long-held dream of seeing our homeland united once more. Yet, the restoration of Georgia’s territorial integrity can only be achieved through peaceful methods, grounded in reconciliation and forgiveness,” Ivanishvili stated.

He also criticized the stance of the opposition, particularly the United National Movement (UNM), accusing them of seeking continuous conflict in Georgia. According to Ivanishvili, their true objective is to keep the country in a state of permanent confrontation.

“Foreign agents and the collective UNM approach to this issue clearly reveals their real goal—to keep Georgia in a constant state of conflict. That is why securing a constitutional majority in the upcoming elections is a critical step towards restoring our country’s territorial integrity,” Ivanishvili added.

He concluded by affirming that, if Georgian Dream secures the constitutional majority on October 26, the party is prepared to introduce a constitutional model that will help fulfill the nation’s long-cherished dream of seeing a united and strong Georgia.
