A traditional public festival Autumn Tskaltubo was celebrated in Tskaltubo, a resort in west-central Georgia, with a full day of cultural, sports, and entertainment events. As part of the festivities, a statue of renowned Georgian poet Galaktion Tabidze was unveiled in a ceremonial event.
Imereti Governor Levan Zalkaliani, along with Deputy Governor Levan Sanikidze, MP Zaza Lominadze, and local government officials, visited exhibitions showcasing emergency and military equipment, and extended their congratulations to Tskaltubo residents.
Delegations from Tskaltubo’s twin cities—including Šilutė (Lithuania), Saldus (Latvia), Salsomaggiore (Italy), Uniejów (Poland), Ungheni (Moldova), Galați (Romania), and Rize (Turkey)—participated in the celebration. Cristina Servin from the Italian delegation presented a special scarf featuring symbols from the Tskaltubo flag and emblem, as well as the town’s famous architectural landmarks.
Students from local schools showcased masterpieces by famous Georgian artists, while theatrical performances, youth and tourism zones, exhibitions, and a classical music concert were also held.
During the honorary citizen award ceremony, Tskaltubo Mayor Genadi Balanchivadze addressed the audience, wishing for unity, strength, and peace in Georgia. Several individuals were honored as Tskaltubo’s honorary citizens, including Metropolitan Ioane of Kutaisi-Gaenati, Minister for Internally Displaced Persons of Abkhazia Davit Phatsatsia, Chairman of the Georgian Competition and Consumer Protection Agency Irakli Lekvinadze, former Minister of Internal Affairs Koba Narchemashvili, engineer Tengiz Jimshleishvili, artist Gela Khuntsaridze, Director of Tskaltubo Thermal Waters Medical Department Nana Gvishiani, award-winning teacher Kakhaber Chakvetadze, pediatrician Nunu Lekvtadze, choir leader Irakli Shengelia, educator Izo Jangavadze, and taekwondo federation president Zurab Salukvadze.
At the same time, several socially vulnerable, large families received new homes, built and gifted to them by the local government.
