EU spokesperson Peter Stano emphasized the importance of Georgia’s upcoming elections, stating that the EU is closely monitoring how free and fair the process will be, to ensure citizens can express their true opinions.
“If Georgian voters truly desire a European future, they will choose those who bring them closer to that goal and do not attack their closest partners,” Stano said.
He added that if voters support anti-European narratives or disinformation, it will also reflect in their choices, but those seeking closer ties with the EU will prioritize leaders advancing that path.
Georgian parliamentary elections will take place on October 26.
