Ex-President Saakashvili: Change must happen on streets of Georgia

Mikheil Saakashvili, the former president of Georgia, has stated that relying solely on foreign reactions is insufficient for achieving political change in the country. In a recent social media post, he emphasized the necessity of active street engagement, asserting that everything must ultimately be decided there.

“Waiting for a response from abroad is not enough, because foreign observers are also watching our evidence. But first and foremost, we need to be active in the streets, and ultimately everything must be resolved in Georgia’s streets,” Saakashvili wrote.

He criticized the current political situation, stating, “Delaying tactics only serve Ivanishvili’s interests. What time for calmness is there when our country is crumbling, and does anyone believe that if we calm down now, Ivanishvili won’t come after each of us one by one?”

Saakashvili highlighted that the most effective way to reject the election results is through sustained, widespread protests based on solid evidence. He urged the public to act swiftly, stressing that “every hour is precious” and that any delay is akin to death.
