EU Ambassador Pavel Herczynski stated on Wednesday that it is crucial for the relevant authorities and the Central Election Commission to conduct an independent investigation and provide answers to the existing allegations regarding the October 26 elections. He emphasized that the Georgian people deserve clarity on the questions raised regarding the recent elections.
Herczynski pointed out that, at this stage, there is no new government in place. “So far, there have been no final results announced by the electoral commission, and the new parliament has not been convened. Therefore, there is no new government. Observers highlighted the violations that occurred during the elections,” he said.
The ambassador reiterated the importance of an independent investigation by the appropriate authorities and the electoral commission to address the allegations. “I also urge Georgia’s special services to recognize that the Georgian people deserve to know the answers to the questions posed, and it is essential that these violations are thoroughly investigated,” he added.
