The Tetritskaro Court has annulled the results of the electronic polling stations in Tetritskaro and Tsalka due to violations of ballot secrecy.
The information was released by Nona Kurdovanidze, chair of the Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association (GYLA), who expressed her gratitude to the court for its ‘courageous ruling.’ She emphasized that this was the only court that granted their request to examine the ballots, ensuring that every ballot had a trace behind it.
“We were anticipating the court’s decision, as GYLA had appealed the results of all technology-based precincts, demanding their annulment due to the violation of the principle of secrecy, which no other court had accepted. The Tetritskaro Court was the last avenue for us to challenge the decisions made by the election commissions in Tsalka and Tetritskaro,” Kurdovanidze stated,
The court’s ruling followed a thorough examination of the ballots, and Kurdovanidze noted that the judge confirmed that the secrecy of the votes had indeed been breached.
“This ruling is of great importance because it demonstrates to the public that their voices must remain confidential. We extend our sincere thanks to the Tetritskaro judge for making such a bold decision,” she remarked.
Nino Lomjaria, founder of the European Orbit of Georgia platform and former Public Defender, also commented on the decision of the Tetritskaro Court in social media, saying it is ’’a very important precedent.”

She stated that there must now be corresponding demands at the appellate courts.
“Now we all need to go to the appellate courts and demand the opening of all electronic polling stations and the verification of ballots, as well as the annulment of the results from those stations where we have submitted complaints!” Lomjaria wrote.
