Georgian PM meets with CoE Secretary General to discuss cooperation and security

In a meeting at the European Political Community Summit in Budapest, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze discussed ongoing cooperation with Council of Europe (CoE) Secretary General Alan Berset. Georgian Government Administration reported that the talks focused on the productive partnership between Georgia and the Council of Europe, emphasizing its crucial role in supporting reforms that advance Georgia’s European integration.

The leaders also addressed pressing security challenges in Europe, including the situation in Georgia’s occupied territories. Discussions highlighted the Council of Europe’s role in promoting peaceful conflict resolution and rebuilding trust through humanitarian projects and dialogue mechanisms. The importance of the Secretary General’s consolidated reports and the Council’s annual decisions on conflict resolution was underscored.

“Prime Minister Kobakhidze reaffirmed Georgia’s commitment to deepening collaboration with the Council of Europe, recognizing the organization’s essential contributions to strengthening democracy, human rights, and the rule of law across the continent,” the statement reads.
