Russian attack death toll in Zaporizhzhia raises to 10, leaves 42 injured

On November 7, Russian forces launched a devastating airstrike on the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia, killing 10 civilians, including a 1-year-old boy, and wounding 42 others. The attack, involving five guided aerial bombs, inflicted severe damage on residential areas and partially destroyed a cancer hospital, according to Ukrainian authorities.

Governor Ivan Fedorov confirmed the casualties, highlighting that a 1-year-old boy was among those killed. The injured include a 4-month-old girl and two boys, aged 5 and 15. Emergency services completed search and rescue operations in the early afternoon, removing another body from the rubble and bringing the death toll to 10.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attack, urging Western allies to supply more air defense systems and lift restrictions on Ukrainian strikes against Russian targets with Western-provided long-range weapons. He remarked, “Each Russian strike not only takes lives but erodes any pretense of dialogue with Russia.”

Zaporizhzhia, a regional hub close to the frontline, has been a frequent target throughout the conflict. This incident comes just two days after another Russian strike on November 5, which killed six people and injured 23. Before the full-scale invasion in 2022, Zaporizhzhia was home to approximately 710,000 residents.
