A high-ranking European delegation, including chairs of several parliamentary committees, will arrive in Tbilisi on November 11, with members expected to deliver strong statements regarding alleged election irregularities, according to Lasha Bakradze of the member of United National Movement (UNM). Bakradze noted that opposition leaders plan to meet with the delegates and share their information regarding the October 26 elections.
“We anticipate very strong statements from the delegation regarding the irregularities witnessed during the recent elections,” Bakradze said. He highlighted that known critics of the ruling Georgian Dream party, including Michael Roth, Chair of the German Foreign Affairs Committee, will be part of the 12-member group.
Delegates from Finland, Sweden, France, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, and Germany will meet with Georgian opposition leaders on Monday and are likely to address concerns surrounding Georgia’s democratic trajectory and electoral transparency.
