“Do not surrender! We are with you,” Michael Roth, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the German Bundestag, addressed Georgians during a protest near the Georgian Parliament in Tbilisi. He made it clear that while the ruling party Georgian Dream might not welcome their presence, they are in a country that is part of Europe and must remain democratic.
Roth emphasized that like Georgian Dream claims the global war party exists, and it is Russia. He also expressed gratitude for the opportunity to return to Georgia, a country renowned for its hospitality. Roth acknowledged that some critics had accused them of interfering in internal affairs, but he explained that they had met with the President of Georgia, describing her as a brave woman fighting for a bright future for the country.
“It is a great honor to meet you, the proud citizens of this country, who are fighting for European values and the restoration of stolen elections. This is about a country that wishes to join a greater union, and that is why we are here—to express our support and thank you for your sacrifice. We stand with you,” Roth declared.
He also affirmed that Russia is the true aggressor and warned that if Ukraine does not prevail, the next targets could be Georgia, Armenia, and the Baltic countries.
“Our struggle is a collective struggle. If you win, we win! If you survive, the European Union survives!” he added.
A delegation of European MPs joined the protest organized by the opposition outside the parliament on Monday, standing alongside opposition leaders.
