Khatia Tsilosani, a member of the parliamentary majority and head of Georgia’s delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, has dismissed as false and misleading claims that Canada denied visas to the Georgian delegation.
“The information spread by Giorgi Kandelaki on social media is a complete lie and disinformation. As the head of Georgia’s delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, I can confirm that all members of our delegation have received Canadian visas. I was personally informed of this by a representative of the Canadian Embassy during a phone call today,” Tsilosani stated in an interview with Imedi News.
She criticized the spread of such claims, accusing detractors of attempting to damage Georgia’s reputation and interests.
“Even if such an issue had arisen, celebrating it would amount to actions against one’s own country. It is clear that these individuals are trying to tarnish Georgia’s image and hinder its progress,” Tsilosani added.
The controversy began after Giorgi Kandelaki, project manager at the Soviet Past Research Laboratory, stated on social media that Canada had refused visas to Georgia’s delegation for the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. Tsilosani categorically denied the claim, emphasizing that all necessary visas had been issued and accusing Kandelaki of intentionally spreading misinformation to undermine Georgia’s interests.
