Ruling party MP praises Ivanishvili for country’s standing on ‘two legs’ for ‘national, not Western interests’

Mamuka Mdinaradze, the leader of the parliamentary majority, on Monday highlighted the shift in Georgia’s political stance under Bidzina Ivanishvili, the Honorary Chair and founder of the GD, emphasizing a “firm focus on national interests”.

“When they [the opposition] were saying, ‘Yes, we should stand on one leg if Europe tells us to,’ we have a solid opportunity, under the leadership of Mr. Bidzina, to stand on two legs and serve national interests. This is how it started in 2011-2012 and will continue,” Mdinaradze claimed.

He credited Ivanishvili for fostering “boldness and confidence in defending Georgia’s sovereignty”, amid the opposition’s boycott of the new Parliament due to its alleged fabrication.
