Ruling Georgian Dream MPs confirm new Government amid opposition boycott

The Georgian Dream parliamentary majority in Georgia’s 11th Parliament confirmed a new government during a plenary session lasting almost two hours. The vote, held without opposition MPs in attendance, saw 84 ruling party members unanimously supporting the cabinet following last month’s general elections.

Opposition parties boycotted the session, rejecting the October 26 parliamentary elections as fraudulent and refusing to recognize the results.

The newly approved government includes changes, with three ministers replaced by MPs:

Levan Davitashvili: First Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development

Lasha Khutsishvili: Minister of Finance
Davit Songulashvili: Minister of Environment and Agriculture
Vakhtang Gomelauri: Minister of Internal Affairs
Irakli Chikovani: Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Defense
Anri Okhanashvili: Minister of Justice
Tea Akhvlediani: State Minister for Reconciliation and Civil Equality
Mikheil Sarjveladze: Minister of IDPs, Labor, Health, and Social Protection
Aleksandre Tsuladze: Minister of Education and Science
Tinatin Rukhadze: Minister of Culture and Sports (with a planned separation of the Ministry of Sports, to be headed by Shalva Gogoladze)
Maka Botchorishvili: Minister of Foreign Affairs
