Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs has reiterated Latvia’s unwavering support for Georgia’s European aspirations following the Georgian government’s decision to suspend its EU accession negotiations. In a post on X, Rinkēvičs stated that Georgia has a European future and reaffirmed Latvia’s long-standing commitment to supporting democratic Georgia’s path to the European Union.
”Georgia has a European dream and European future. Latvia has always supported democratic Georgia’s European path, and always will,” his post reads.
Rinkēvičs also expressed full solidarity with the people of Georgia and President Salome Zourabichvili, emphasizing the importance of respecting the right to peaceful demonstrations and protests. His statement comes amid ongoing protests across Georgia, where citizens are voicing opposition to the government’s decision, which they feel undermines the country’s pro-European trajectory.
