In a recent social media post, Marko Mihkelson, a Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Estonian Parliament, expressed his support for Georgia’s current president, Salome Zourabichvili, calling her the “only legitimate President of Georgia.”
His statement comes after the Election College elected Mikheil Kavelashvili as the country’s sixth president. Georgia’s current President Salome Zourabichvili and the opposition parties do not recognize the legitimacy of the parliament and the newly elected president.
