Protesters block traffic on Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi

Traffic on Rustaveli Avenue, the main street of Georgia’s capital, has been halted as protesters block the roadway.

Participants have displayed banners with various messages, including photos of individuals detained and injured during previous protests. Their key demands remain the same: the scheduling of new elections and the release of detained individuals.

The demonstration has continued without interruption for 27 days. Protest marches are held at different locations across Tbilisi during the day, while gatherings are centered around the Parliament building starting at 8:00 PM.

The protests were sparked by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze’s statement on November 28, announcing the postponement of negotiations to open talks on Georgia’s EU membership until 2028.
