Georgian Defence Minister Irakli Chikovani participated in the Ukraine Defence Contact Group meeting on Thursday, emphasizing Georgia’s commitment to supporting Ukraine amidst the ongoing war.
The high-level meeting, held in the Ramstein format at the initiative of the United States, brought together defence ministers and senior officials from over 50 countries backing Ukraine. Discussions centered on coordinated military assistance to bolster Ukraine’s defense capabilities against Russian aggression.
The session was inaugurated by US Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin, who reiterated the importance of unified international support for Ukraine. The Ukraine Defence Contact Group, established in April 2022, serves as a platform for aligning military aid and strategies among allied nations.
Minister Chikovani highlighted Georgia’s solidarity with Ukraine, emphasizing the shared experiences of both nations in confronting territorial threats. The meeting reinforced the global commitment to ensuring Ukraine’s sovereignty and security through enhanced military cooperation and resource allocation.
