Ex-PM Gilauri: “All indicators point to challenging year ahead”

Nika Gilauri, former Prime Minister and a founder and managing partner of the consulting firm Reformatics, expressed concerns about Georgia’s economic outlook during a meeting with business leaders.

He stated that the ongoing political crisis in the country has not yet fully impacted the economy, but all indicators suggest that 2025 will be a difficult year.

“The political crisis in Georgia has not yet completely reflected on our economy. However, all indicators point to a challenging year ahead. For instance, we already saw the tourism figures decline in November and December, and January is no better. Added to this are reduced inflows from international financial institutions and a decrease in foreign direct investment. The currency inflows that the country has been relying on recently are significantly decreasing,” said Gilauri.

The meeting, held at the Sheraton Hotel, brought together business leaders to discuss current developments and the country’s economic situation.
