Levan Mgaloblishvili, Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia,has stated that Georgia’s path to the European Union passes through Abkhazia, the country’s currently Russian-controlled territory in the north-west.
He made this remark during an introductory meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to Georgia, Anna Maria Sikó.
During the meeting, the parties discussed potential areas of future cooperation across various sectors.
Mgaloblishvili briefed the Ambassador on the activities of the Abkhazian government, highlighting the importance of Georgia’s peace policy and the necessity of including the Abkhazian issue in the European integration process.
“I held an introductory meeting with the Ambassador of our strategic partner country, Hungary. During the meeting, I emphasized that our primary objective remains joining the European Union together with our Abkhaz sisters and brothers, while preserving our dignity, customs, and traditions. Georgia’s path to the European Union runs through Abkhazia,” said Mgaloblishvili.
Ambassador Sikó reaffirmed Hungary’s steadfast support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. She also expressed Hungary’s full commitment to supporting Georgia’s aspirations for European integration.
Mgaloblishvili expressed his gratitude to Anna Maria Sikó for Hungary’s support of Georgia’s territorial integrity and for the solidarity demonstrated by Hungary towards Georgia.
