The Kremlin expects the United States to provide details of recent discussions held in Saudi Arabia, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday.
Speaking at a press conference, Peskov told reporters that Washington had pledged to share information on the substance of the talks in Jeddah.
“Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. We don’t want to do that,” he said. “Yesterday, at a press conference, [US Secretary of State Marco] Rubio and [National Security Advisor Mike] Walz said that they would provide us with detailed information through various channels.” His remarks were reported by Russian state news agency TASS.
Peskov said Moscow plans to reach out to Washington in the coming days to obtain full details of the discussions.
He added that, as of now, there was no agreement in place for a phone call between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, and that no such proposal had been received from the US. However, he did not rule out the possibility of a future conversation.
Following a meeting between Ukrainian and US representatives in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, it emerged that Kyiv had agreed to a 30-day ceasefire proposal put forward by Washington. Ukraine’s presidential office confirmed that talks on the details of the temporary truce would commence after March 17.
Shortly after the Jeddah meeting, President Trump announced that Russian and American officials would hold talks soon to discuss a possible ceasefire. He also said that a call with President Putin was expected to take place later this week.
