Tbilisi international Airport adds Zurich route as Edelweiss Air expands into Georgia

Tbilisi International Airport is set to welcome a new direct flight route this summer as Swiss carrier Edelweiss Air launches operations between Zurich and the Georgian capital. The airline, a subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group, will begin flights on April 12, with services scheduled twice weekly on Tuesdays and Sundays.

The Civil Aviation Agency of Georgia, under the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, granted Edelweiss Air the necessary permissions on March 20, paving the way for the airline’s entry into the country’s aviation market.

The introduction of the Zurich-Tbilisi route is expected to boost tourist arrivals from Europe, further strengthening Georgia’s appeal as a travel destination, the agency said.
